A HUMAN rights lawyer has launched a global group community interest company in Wrexham. Bushra Ali, of Bushra Ali Solicitors in Wrexham, launched the CIC at Ty Pawb earlier this month, with 100 per cent of funds raised by the company going back into community projects.
The company launched in front of key stakeholders, councillors, voluntary organisations, the North Wales Police, Coleg Cambria, the Welsh Refugee Council and many more businesses and community activists, with the High Sheriff of Clwyd and the Mayor of Wrexham also in attendance.
Bushra, who grew up in Wrexham, faced difficulties in her upbringing facing issues with bullying and racism before becoming a leading immigration and human rights solicitor, and non-practising barrister in the Leicester area where she launched her practice in 2015. This led to a second office opening in Wrexham last August.
Bushra has also become the chair of Equality and Diversity Sub-Group at Cheshire and North Wales Law Society and was recently named the winner of the Institute of Directors of Wales Award.
The Bushra Ali Group Global CIC was initiated to encourage others to break down barriers. The CIC will tackle serious and sensitive issues – from domestic abuse to disability and stigma to mentoring programmes for the youth in Wales. Workshops will include self-confidence, empowering women, and life skills courses to enable men and women to spot signs of abuse at an early stage and to seek assistance earlier.
